You’ll see this big bull throughout my gallery. This was such a great experience although he was still a good 25 yds away.
This solidarity Bald Eagle was perched above the road. I cropped this down to isolate the eagle better
Rumagin through my 2019 trip to Denali NP, I pulled this image and now having it printed as an 18x24 Metal print for the house. Shot this with Canon 7D Mark II, ISO 2500, Tv 1/250 sec. f/5.6, exp. bias -0.3, with my Tamron SP 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 at 226 mm. It was drizzling a little during the day and this is one of the two bulls on the hillside that morning with two cows.

I love this shot as it gives me the opportunity to connect with her. She is intense and watching me as well.
This is another shot of this Bull Moose in our campground. He is down near the river eating Willow leaves. Shot this at 130 mm.
This herd of Bison along the road in Yellowstone NP was very active. This bull was pretty active as well.

Keek is a Rough-Legged Hawk and part of the center's educational birds. She suffered an injury to her right wing and was unable to be rehabilitated. She now lives her life in some quite comfortable digs I might add.
Leopold is an old guy is 12 years old - He and his brother McKinley arrived at the center in 2005 at just 15-days old. Both getting old, generally 11 years in captivity, he will soon be retired to live out the rest of his days in comfort. Looks pretty comfortable in this shot.

“The Pair” Big Horn sheep along the road on the east side of Yellowstone.
Sow 101 is a 435 lb female Grizzly. She is so named as she was the 101st bear to be tagged in the Greater Yellowstone Eco-System. She lived in the Eco-System for 20 years and raised several cubs. In 2002, she came to the center after a series of human error's allowed to get into garbage.
Summit is the pack mate to Adra in the Granite Pack at GWDC. He was pretty active on this day, especially after eating most of the rib cage he was given.
Adara is an 8 year old Alpha Female in the Granite Pack at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana. My wife and I are annual donors and have adopted several of the animals since 2014. I absolutely love this center and what its mission is. I high encourage anyone to visit and guarantee you will fall in love with one of the many animals, whether it is the grizzlies, wolves, or birds of prey. You won't go away disappointed. She is currently guarding the rack of ribs she just got and is watching her pack mate Summit.

The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program was in Steamboat this past weekend and set up a booth at the Art in the Park. You may have seen some of my earlier photos of the Bald Eagle which lives at the RMRP in Ft. Collins, CO. www.RMRP.org Check them out. This little Barn Owl is living at the recovery center and cannot fly due to a broken wing. I really liked how this turned out in B&W..
This Golden Eagle was also making his education treck to Steamboat. Beautiful Bird.

This Swanson's Hawk is blind and came to the center in Ft. Collins. So much fun to watch.

This big guy was walking toward me as I was stopped on the road. This was shot at 600 mm, but I love the look.
The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is home to a large herd of Buffalo. This herd was on the western side of the refuge.
Spent the morning at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. This was just after sunrise. Several whitetails in this area. The refuge is just north of Denver. It is 15,000 acres and is a fantastic habitat.

Two of four bulls in this meadow. All were bugling. Very awesome day in #RMNP.
The number of bulls we saw in the Park was outstanding. I was able to isolate this guy for the shot, but there were three others standing near by. No cows in the area. The sun was setting and provided a great shot with the low light.
I could not this guy to look up.

Montana's Grizzly Bear Encounter, Bozeman, MT. Bella is a 2 year old 300# Brown Bear at the encounter - This encounter is small, but has a wealth of information.

Thirsty
This was a treat to see it ruffle its feathers. I was hoping to capture some in-flight movement, but these weren't as promising as I thought. Lesser's are not as easily scared into flight as the Greater Yellowlegs.
Lesser Yellowlegs - Couldn't help but crops this shot and bring it in closer. Was a fun bird to watch.

Another great shot of the duckling's being herded by Mom. This was at sunset on Hahns Peak Lake west of Steamboat Springs, CO. over the 4th of July weekend.
American Bald Eagle (4)
Estes Park golf course is a great place for elk in the fall. This bull was fairly docile but on guard for sure. There were easily 12 cows with yearlings in the herd as well. Elk Fest in Estes is a big thing. This was a couple weeks after.
This bull elk was fighting the wind and snow this day. Taken at Hidden Valley in RMNP. The area use to be a ski area in the park 30 years ago, but now is a hiking and wilderness area and there is sledding and tubing areas. The wind was blowing about 20 mph and it was snowing.
Went fishing today and driving out, caught this hawk that landed on a large rock off the road. It was windy and decided to take flight. It rode the winds for 5 min and just floated there so I could snap some shots. It was flying high, so shot this at 300 mm.

This young bull came up from below and had lot's of felt hang below his antlers. He began rubbing the tree trying to scrape the felt off.
Near the top of Fall River Road. A herd of elk with several bulls. This one was just lying low. He was starting to lose the felt on his antlers.
This lone Bull Buffalo was walking along the road near Fishing Bridge and was stopping traffic. He dropped down into the meadow behind him and I was able to get a little closer (with my 500mm) of course.
When in the water and swimming around it looked huge. Not until it got out here was the size very distinguishable. Very cool to see it in its natural habitat (in the Wild).
This young yearling was along the road near our campground. He was with his mother, but was a little skittish.
Took me a little bit to see this guy through the think willows and trees. Definitely well camoflauged though. followed him for about 30 min back into the campground we stayed in.
This Bull Moose was pretty well camoflauged when I spotted him. We had seen him earlier in the day and then I caught him hidden in the willows in the campground. I stayed a good distance, but easily captured him with my 75-300 mm lens. This shot was through a some trees with clearing that allowed me to stay hidden as well.
Here this Scrub Jay is again attempting to land in the reflection of the tree on our Trailer. Using a EF 75-300 mm lens, I wanted to capture this bird in flight. Here is one of 2 photos I was able to really get.

Two of the Grizzlies at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. These two played with each other for over an hour. Amazing to see how they interact with one another.
Kootenia is the alpha male in the River Valley Pack at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, MT. He is named after the Kootenia National Forest in Montana and a Native American Tribe in Idaho. He arrived at the center in 2007 along with Akela as pups.
Akela is one of two wolves in the River Valley pack at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, MT. She came to the center in 2007 as a pup and is now the alpha female.
Photo 2/6 - Pretty hair raising experience. We had a group of 6 (3 couples) on the tour. Our guide is facing the group trying to get the buffalo to follow. About 5 minutes of waiting.
Five Bull Buffalo that were very frisky and agitated. We created a snowmobile fence to help with preventing them from charging. Pretty hair raising experience with 10,000 lbs of buffalo coming at you. One of the bulls actually took out a small pine tree along the river.

Watched this Red Fox for 15 minutes running around. Not sure what he/she heard in the distance or saw, but appears to be waiting and watching. This was taken along the Lower Geyser Basin along the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park.
Last of two large bulls on a stampede. Shot with a telephoto lens, but only about 25 yards away behind a snowmobile... What an awesome sense of excitement and fear at the same time...
These Buffalo came from out of nowhere while we were stopped on the road. Talk about a pucker factor when you have 12,000 lbs of pure muscle running at you. Talk about up-close and personal
This older bull buffalo was alone near the edge of the Madison River foraging for grass. He rooted for about 15 min and patience paid off. I really wanted to connect. This was shot about 25 yds away at 300 mm. Gotta love Telephoto lenses..
Correction to my original description. Yellowstone Coyote. This male was actually running with his mate and unfortunately we spooked them. He is running along the water's edge of Yellowstone Lake. We watched him for about 10 min hoping he would come back and cross the road to join his mate. Hopefully he did.
One of several herds of Buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. They are close to the Madison River along the road foraging for grass. It had been snowing since the night before and was still snowing this morning when I took this.
Captured the Ram along the highway between Big Sky Montana and West Yellowstone along a grove of trees and open area. There were two Rams and only was able to capture this big guy.
Several shots of the same big Ram along Hwy 191 between Big Sky and West Yellowstone. Perfect opportunity to capture this Ram. I waited until he looked at me to capture this. Totally Awesome!!!
This is 1 of 8 shots of this magnificent Bald Eagle at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Rehab center in Fort Collins. I really love how her gaze is attentive. The water droplets are from being sprayed with water to keep her cool, but it adds a lot of character to the photo.
Golden Eagle
Visited the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program in Fort Collins today. This Bald Eagle is 21 and came to the program in 1996. She is blind in her right eye and had been shot through the chest and left wing. She cannot fly. She is one of the educational bird at the program. I had the awesome privilege to meet with a few of the volunteers and this magnificent bird.
Perched on a nearby pine tree, this Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker was a wonderful capture. There was a pine tree right near our trailer and this bird was in the tree making a great capture and use of telephoto lenses.
Fishing
Although blind, this hawk is still pretty mighty all the way around. What an educational opportunity to see these birds of prey up close. Check out the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program at www.RMRP.org

Found this stag along the wildlife loop road at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The sun was filtered through the clouds behind him. He had three doe's with him and they had run across the road in front of me.

Bull Buffalo near Madison Junction in Yellowstone NP. This is manipulated with Sepia tone.
Camping this weekend went back a beaver pond I've shot at before. I came across this Lesser Yellowleg feeding along the shallow marshy area of the pond. I was able to get fairly close and set up my tripod with my Tamron 150-600 mm and watched for about an hour and shot 380 frames.

After our wolf trek this morning, I had to capture the swans along the Yellowstone River. The fog was rising and these were just two of several Trumpeter's swimming in the river.
These guys are all over the place near the Underground Mining Museum in Creede. Stuffing their cheeks with sunflower seeds. Very fun to watch. I was using my 75-300 mm lens and still was able to get pretty close.

Spooked by the coyotes, this group of 12 Bulls were ready to move quickly. Pretty awesome to capture some action shots.

This is one of two Bulls in the meadow I watched for about 2 hours.
I was able to capture this eagle and noticed it was injured and blind in the right eye as you can see from this image. He/She was perched a good 75 ft up in the top of the tree along the lake shore. There is NO post-production other than cropping and framing of this image. Hope you enjoy.
Captured this bald eagle at the top of the tree along the lake shore this evening. He/She was perched high in the tree. Luckily I had my EF75-300 mm on the camera. Hoping to capture some sunset photos, this was a real treat. This bird is blind in the right eye.
One of the last shots of the day. I did a little post-production Loomish on this shot and really like how it stands out. Leopold is in the High Country Wolf Pack. He arrive to the Discovery Center with his brother McKinley. Leopold is named after conservationist Aldo Leopold and is considered the Omega Male of the pack.
This is one of 5 Bull Elk on a hill side off of Fall River Road in RMNP. They were all grazing. An Awesome sight. Not sure if he is really a 5x5, may be more a 6x6.
Keek is a female rough-legged hawk living at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, MT. She injured her right wing and unfortunately was not able to rehab fully to be released back into the wild. She lives happy and comfortably at the center and is just one of several ambassadors for the center.

“Morning Hunt” Yellowstone coyote that walked right past my wife and I while scoping out wolves in the Hayden Valley.

This is one of two cubs we saw on our Fly-out Trip for Silver's with High Adventure Air out of Soldotna, AK. What a great trip to say the least. Weather was great and it sprinkled for just a few minutes all day.

This Black Bear sow and her two cubs were in the right spot for the fresh catch of the day. We saw them come out of the woods right into the small waterfall dumping into the cove we stopped at to eat lunch and do some bear watching. What a treat this was. No Brownies though today.

2019 My wife and I won the lottery to drive the Denali Park Hwy. I spotted this Grizzly sow and her cubs along the ridge above the Toklat River. I shot this from about 1/4 mile with my Tamron 150-600 on Canon 7D at 600 mm.
Probably one of my favorite motion photos. He/She was taking flight from its perch.
